“For many years walking around the Pit Hill and enjoying walks here, I felt it could be improved much more for nature and the local community. So I started inviting my neighbours and local people to come and collect litter…It’s been really good fun, getting to know my neighbours and know we’re doing something good for the environment.”

Viv Cochrane told us her story of how she brought neighbours together to help with litter picking in her local area, and how that progressed into taking on more environmental projects through the Friends of Toftshaw group she set up.
