Our stories, our places celebrates the stories of people in our communities who are working together to make our local places even better. We’d love to hear your story.
Why stories?
We know that stories are part of who we are. Everyone has a story to tell. It’s just that we don’t always get the chance to tell them. We wanted to change that.
We’ve been asking each other a question:
How can more people come together to make local places better?
We’ve been listening to each other’s stories and learning what made them possible. We’ve been listening out for what our stories have in common. And we’ve been listening to people from local organisations about what it would mean if more people had a story to share.
Why places?
We know that our local places really matter to the people who live, work and play here. What if we all felt able to influence what happens on our street and in our neighbourhood or town? What if we had a shared goal – a goal that is shaped by local people? And what if we were all part of making it happen?
It all starts from telling our stories. Listening to each other’s stories really matters. It helps us understand how more people can be part of making local places better. By sharing your story, you’re helping us learn what makes people feel inspired and what enables people to take part.
Our stories tell us how we can create places where everyone can trust each other – and where people feel able to influence and affect what happens here, every day.
What happens next?
This website is inspired by the stories that we’ve heard so far – brilliant stories about lots of different things that people have been doing in our communities. Over time, we’d love for this to grow into a space where more people share personal stories, and where we can tell the story of our collective journey towards achieving our shared goal.
This is a new way of working for us, and it’s just the beginning.
