Aya’s story: Helping our neighbour

I felt honoured that he trusted me. “

We had an older neighbour called Mr Albert who was moving into a care home. He needed help moving and cleaning his house. He was getting rid of stuff.

Me and my sister helped out by cleaning his car before he moved. He was very appreciative and it meant so much to him. Sadly he’s passed away now.

It was nice to do something for the older generation as young and old don’t often mix or trust each other. I felt honoured that he trusted me.

It’s made me want to do more so I went to our neighbours to let them know I’d shop for them during the pandemic.

Working with my sister helps – we think the same and feel more confident if we’re together.
